Avocado suits both the fresh fruit channel and the processing raw material channel, so the growing area is organised to serve the two at once.
Growing conditions
Contracted avocado orchards sit on basalt soils in the Lam Dong highlands. The mild climate and a distinct dry season help the fruit build oil content — the parameter processing customers care about most.
Season
The main season runs April to September, peaking June to August. Late-maturing varieties extend supply into the closing months of the year, narrowing the gap between seasons.
Cultivation and picking
Avocado does not ripen on the tree, so cutting time is decided by fruit maturity rather than skin colour. Cut too early and the fruit will not ripen evenly afterwards; cut too late and too little transit time remains. We agree this with the customer at quotation stage, because it depends on the distance to market.
After harvest
Fruit is cooled early to slow ripening, graded by weight, checked for bruising and skin defects, then packed. Fruit for processing is peeled, de-stoned and rapidly frozen as halves, chunks or pulp.
